In his time at the University, Dr. Easter has served for the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) as a professor, department head, interim dean, and finally dean – a responsibility Easter refers to as his “favorite position” at the University.
John Reifsteck, GROWMARK Chairman of the Board and President, said, “But for those in the GROWMARK System, Easter is most commonly known not as a dean, or a university president or any of his academic titles, but rather as he wants to be known: Bob Easter.
Bob arrived at the Urbana-Champaign campus from Texas to pursue his doctorate in swine nutrition and he’s been a mainstay in Illinois agriculture since. Over the course of his career, in his various positions, he has helped those he interacted with understand swine nutrition and the value of cooperatives; he’s steered students toward internships with many companies, including FS and GROWMARK, and he’s provided advice on a variety of issues from swine nutrition to the future of Illinois agriculture, to a wide audience.
Bob is a respected researcher and a peacemaker in tough situations. His reputation as an honest and trustworthy agriculturalist is well-known in the GROWMARK and FS System, and his influence is very much appreciated.”
The Friend of GROWMARK award was established in 1989 to recognize outstanding leadership and commitment to agriculture, and friendship to the GROWMARK System. Since its inception, more than 25 individuals and organizations have been honored.
