The local cooperative, Evergreen FS, implements the agronomic support and GROWMARK, Inc. proudly underwrites the products. According to Todd Wibben, Evergreen FS crop specialist, corn planting was completed by April 15 and growing conditions have kept the crop on track for the variety of harvest and machinery demonstrations that take place at the Farm Progress Show. FS also donates Dieselex Gold and gasoline to equipment manufacturers running demonstrations on-site, as well as those showcasing management vehicles.
GROWMARK and the FS System understand that to farm in America is a choice of passion. Farmers value the hard-working lifestyle that is dedicated to the noble purpose of feeding the world. But whether you are a farmer or simply a concerned citizen, we all care about the climbing hunger trends in America.
At the Farm Progress Show (FPS) this year the FS System has come up with an idea that will give everyone the chance to help fight food insecurity. When FPS guests arrive at the FS System tent, they will get a chance to play "Farming Forever." "Farming Forever" is a search and trivia game that provides a perspective of food insecurity and its impact on American families.
For every individual that plays "Farming Forever," the GROWMARK Foundation will make a $1 donation to Feeding America and the Midwest Food Bank in honor of the farmer-owners and customers of the FS System. The GROWMARK Foundations' goal is to donate up to $10,000 over the course of the 3-day show, based on the number of participants. Feeding America and the Midwest Food Bank are both volunteer based organizations that provide food donations and support to local non-profit organizations and food banks.
If helping to feed this world through support of Feeding America and the Midwest Food Bank weren't enough to celebrate, the first proprietary soybean brand, FS HiSOY, is celebrating 50 years of legacy. All year long, the FS System has enjoyed celebrating FS HiSOY and farmers have told their stories of its' legendary performance on their farms. This year at the FS tent, three farmers will have the opportunity to win a Meridian Express Seed Tender in celebration of the FS HiSOY 50th Anniversary and participation in the FS HiSOY Golden Sweepstakes, which will be announced Wednesday, September 2 at 1:00 p.m.
Also September 2, the GROWMARK Foundation will be presenting a donation of $70,000 to Illinois Ag in the Classroom. This contribution is intended to support ag literacy programs at the county level throughout the state. Since 2000, the GROWMARK Foundation has contributed nearly $900,000 to Ag in the Classroom programs.
